[pianotech] Ethics and efficacy of part-time tuning

It sounds like this has been argued before, but from my perspective there
are only two relevant points (if I'm missing any, I'm sure I'll be
informed):

1. It's much easier to ignore what I've already read if the new message is
on top.
2. If I have missed some or all of the previous discussion, I appreciate
having it in the message instead of having to go looking for it.

If it gets too long or contains something other than plain text, judicious
editing is appreciated. Otherwise, why bother? Text occupies very little
bandwidth and memory.

One other minor point: IMHO, messages thanking a particular individual or
sending some other non-relevant (to the rest of the list) message would be
more logically done in a private email. It seems like a small thing but it's
a cumulative waste of time for the rest of us (to those who have lots of
time and appreciate all the warm fuzzy aspects of this listserve, I
apologize. :-)

I guess this is a back-handed way of saying how much I value the information
I've gleaned from this list - thanks to everyone who contributes.
