Center them under the wippens not in the keystick. Often the center of the
keystick does not offer uniform spacing.

Subject: [pianotech] silly question

Moving key capstans, old threaded holes are ready to plug. It has become
obvious that some of these holes are not centered on the keystick.

My inclination is to center the new holes but could this be a mistake for
later hammer string whippen key capstan alignment?

Do factories pay attention to these details?

Gene
