[pianotech] Action Search

Anne,

Even if you find another theoretically identical action you will find that it is
not really identical.

In the end you will be better off designing and making a new keyset and action
stack from "scratch." You are probably already familiar with the process. You
start from the hammer strike line and work down and toward the front of the
piano.

It will, of course, add considerably to the cost of the project but such is the
cost of sentiment.

If you have specific questions feel free to contact me privately.

Regards,

Del

|
| Hi all.
|
| I have a persistent customer who insists I restore her
| childhood Everett baby grand, despite the fact that the
| storage place LOST the action. I have tried to make her
| realize this is not a cost effective idea, but she has more
| than the wherewithal (indeed, I'm restoring another piano for
| her as well), and wants to do it.
|
| So, I am looking for another Everett 5'3/4" 1902 baby grand
| with its action in restorable condition, unless you
| miraculously happen to have . I have complete dimensions, if
| you think you might be able to help out, please send me a
| private email. East coast preferred, so I can pick it up on
| one of my regular runs.
|
| Having a complete new action built would be more expensive by
| far, than just buying another whole unrestored piano, so
| while she does have the wherewithal, she isn't wanting to go
| that far with the cost if unnecessary.
|
| sigh. Clients. What we do to make a living.
