Greetings all --

In 2005 David Rubenstein, here in Los Angeles, unveiled his 12' 2" grand
piano. See it here:

And more pictures and details here:

Aside from a very old non functioning prototype in a museum in China,
David's piano was the largest piano ever made. Now, a 14 year old kid in New
Zealand, Adrian Mann, is making the news as having made the worlds largest
piano at 6 meters, (about 18 feet), in length. And he made it over the span
of four years in a neighbors barn.

Here's the ONLY video available, a local TV news story:

And aside from a couple of photos on Flickr,
(http://www.flickr.com/photos/37161992@N06/), one press release that has
been re-written about a dozen times, and this one video, there is NO more
information about this piano or the creator. The ONLY piece of technical
information I have been able to find is this:

"When traditional piano-building materials weren't available, he improvised.
The spruce used for soundboards wasn't available so Mr Mann cross-cut
Canadian Douglas Fir bought from a salvage yard instead. An estimated 85 per
cent of the piano is made from recycled materials."

Has anyone else on this list heard about this? Does anyone know anything
more about this instrument?
