We have a lot of hills in downtown GR some with the old cobble stone they used to use with horse and buggy was around but, yes, people cycle all over town. Just have to watch where you go. You're not all that far from a crummy area either if you go in the wrong direction. We have bike trails that go all the north to Cadilac, 100 miles away if you like. There are bike trails downtown GR too. http://www.michigan.org/Things-to-Do/Outdoors/Biking/Default.aspx?city=G3095 From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of John Formsma Sent: Monday, April 27, 2009 11:08 PM To: Pianotech List Subject: [pianotech] OT - cycling in Grand Rapids? I'll probably be bringing my road bike to the GR convention. Anyone up for a ride? My average speed right now is about 16+ mph on the hilly roads of north Mississippi. I'll probably be up to 16.5 - 17.0 by July. Flat roads I could probably do at least 19-20 average. But I don't know for sure since we don't have flat roads here. :-) If anyone knows of some good off-road routes in the GR area, I'd be up for that too. Can bring my mountain bike as well.
