Hello to All,
I think that there are some ,to say the least, are confused
about what piano is being talked about.
The Chickering Quarter grand does not have the Fan/Spread
action. I never heard it called "splayed".
I think that the piano that used the Fan action that is being
referred to is the 109 B-C-D, the 116 or the 105. These pianos
have end blocks about 6 or 7 in. wide. Their factory nick-name
was "Ole Stubby" . And some had multi pin blocks.
There are several " Quarter Grands" of different sizes and some
are quiet different .than others.
There is a "125" Quarter Grand action on my bench now. It
would be most helpful If we knew exactly what piano we are
speaking of. The keys are straight and the shanks are straight
(inline) with the keys.
As a piano technician that tunes and repairs pianos to pay my
bills and feed my family I am thankful for all Pianos This includes
the Betsy Ross pianos all 5 scales (models) that's ( Five ) of
them. Well--- on second thought maybe -- not -- the 19.
Respectfully,
Jack Wyatt
