Sorry that my last post was harsh, I sent it without further explaining.

What if you had a nail in your tire and the shop sold you a new tire for $140
because they didn't know how to plug it for $20? Are they not doing 
you a disservice?

Marshall, I feel for your condition but this thread has been going on 
for some time
now and you still can't figure it out despite being instructed on how 
to repair it.
Is there no one locally to show you?  Replacing the wippen because of a broken
cord is bad advise for both the technician and the customer.

The sad truth may be that if you can not accomplish a simple repair, 
you should sub out that work.
Sometimes well-meaning aspirations are not enough.

I do wish you luck and I hope you can figure it out and accomplish 
this simple repair.
