This topic (removing smells from pianos) has gone around recently, with the same unanswered question regarding the consensus solution of ozone generators. Someone pointed to a website where they are offered for sale... I thought the site was full of, well, bits. So here's the question (several questions, actually) again, hopefully a bit more succinctly asked... - Has anyone used used an ozone generator to remove smells (smoke, rodent urine, mold, etc.) from pianos? - What is the rated ozone output of your generator? - How much time for what level of smell? - Do you tent the piano? With what? Can the tent (tarp? whatever?) lay on the piano? - Brand? Supplier? - Ever used it on pianos with tobacco smoke smells? - Is a one-shot treatment permanent (assuming the mice stay away?) - Potential hazards (like I understand that ozone essentially destroys rubber)? It's not like I regularly encounter stinky pianos, but for that every once in a while one it would be nice. The machines that I saw on that site were not too terribly expensive... $400 range like Paul McCloud mentioned... affordable, but not something to buy with so little knowledge and no specific recommendations.
