This has been gone over many times on the list but I wouldn't rely on a scale published in a book or taken from some other supposedly like piano. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself then have someone recalculate it based on the speaking lengths. It will give you a matching bass scale as well. Having had this done enough times to be able to now do it myself whenever I restring a piano (though sometimes with consultation), even if it has a stenciled scale, I can tell you that the benefits are definitely worth the effort and/or cost. That piano needs a well constructed low tension scale and soft light hammer to go with that lightweight and probably weak soundboard (I presume you aren't replacing it). The midrange all has single ties. It's been previously restrung, but the current scale makes no sense. Can anyone provide me with a reliable scale? The guide to restringing comes close, but I'd like to be more accurate if possible. Thanks, Scott Rogers, RPT -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
