Exactly.  Following the movement through the entire motion cycle, and verifying the desired blow distance and aftertouch is more meaningful that assigning numbers to ratio values for the various pairs of lever arms.  

Even so, I would not be too critical of Dale's approach.  I believe it to be more accurate than calculating ratios from linear measurement.  It would be better to compare hammer travel to key travel from "at rest" to contact with the let-off button.  And better yet to analyze the full range of motion.

While you reserve the right to tweak the blow distance or aftertouch, I am not obliged to do so in cyberspace.  I can tweak other variables to get exactly the blow and aftertouch I target.
