Patrick: It is the process of locating the action on the key frame (unfinished) and in the action cavity so that all dimensions are satisfied--fore and aft, laterally, and elevations. Generally a forefinisher starts with only the keyset (with no capstans or backchecks), the strung piano, and the unshaped wood blocks which the action brackets rest on.
