Hi Barrie, I'm glad you like André Oorebeek's book. [Antares, by the way, is an older email moniker which André no longer uses]. The grand voicing blocks André uses are, I believe, Yamaha tools. What is critical is the dimensions, as described in the book. The video does not show voicing on uprights - the special hand technique is described in the book but the voicing process itself is the same as voicing grands. As the upright voicing block pictured in the book (below) slides along to the right, the hammers "ride" up the slope of the wedge to the flat supporting area where they supported for needling. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... This book will be around for a long time, and that dictated the need for a high quality production. There were many decisions in the design that had to be made, each with repercussions on the final project. So far the response to the content and the design has been very positive. Darrell Fandrich went so far as to call André's book "one of the two or three all time most meaningful books about piano technology". A small correction to your last comment, if I may: after reading the book, you will know what to do to make the piano "more easy on the ears"...
