Subject: [pianotech] An unusual action!

Hi Gang! This email I received yesterday tickled my funny bone so I thought I
would share it:

"I have an antique English upright piano, I believe it has a squirrel
cage construction. Are you familiar with this setup? It was only
around for a little while in the late 1800s and is very different
than modern pianos...

It needs tuning and possibly other maintenance...and I know someone
that has worked on these is hard to find."

I found myself trying to image what a "squirrel cage" action would look like!
