I'm just a shade tree mechanic compared to a lot of you on this list who regularly rescale, move bridges, redesign soundboards, etc., etc. Therefore, I plan to return the piano to German style termini: For originality - This Schimmel 280 seems to me to be a high quality instrument. I assume there must be a reason they did it the way they did it that is beyond my lonely brain cell's capacity to comprehend. For consistency - the bass strings are all also knotted/looped the German double way. I seem to recall discussions on this list with regard to backscale. This beastie has plenty. For æsthetics - Compare a piano like an old Chickering square tail with individual French terminal things with this one. MUCH cleaner looking hitchpin field. -- Conrad Hoffsommer, RPT - Keyboard Technician Luther College, 700 College Dr., Decorah, Iowa 52101-1045 1-(563)-387-1204 // Fax 1-(563)-387-1076
