I don't think it's out of bounds to advise on pricing as long as you know what you're talking about. New prices can be tricky though as manufacturers have all types of leeway. Define "appropriate". Who decides what is appropriate and by what measure? Given the wretched state of the economy, the lowball nature of school sales in general, and the two competing dealers; it is unlikely that the school is going to pay too much. This is a private transaction between the choir director (school) and the dealers. We don't belong there. If asked, we can give our professional opinion on the quality and durability of the makes and brands, if we have had exposure to them. That is within our province. I have a school choir director I occasionally tune for who is involved in purchasing a 6' grand and two local distributors with competing Japanese manufacturers are after the sale. I don't know current appropriate pricing for the pianos being considered and wonder if anyone here could put prices into context. Could someone contact me directly if have experience with new Japanese piano values? Terry Sheetz PTG Associate Twin Cities
