List, I slapped a quick tuning on this today. Very nice piano. Has a mix of copper and iron wrapped bass strings so it's pretty tubby but very solid otherwise. If there was a buck in it or was owned by a devoted client this would be a great rebuilding project. It's not unlike the occasional Vose or Ivers and Pond upright that we see up here in Massachusetts that has somehow survived our climate in tact. One feature I did not notice until today. The jack has a hole in which a silk cord that is attached to the hammer flange engages a jack mounted spring. Clear as mud right? I'll try and get a picture.This seems to duplicate or perhaps augment the jack springs job. Tom D.
