Wim, you said "Use a linen cloth, like a handkerchief. Make it wet, but not dripping, place it 
over the hammer, and touch the hot hammer iron to the top of the hammer for 
about 1 or 2 seconds."



So?I should?steam only at the strike point?? 



Or do you also so some steaming at 10 & 2 o'clock, or even lower in the shoulder, 

to give more "give" in the overall hammer when striking the string?
