I lost a sale to a church that bought the DH Baldwin and paid substantially
more money because they thought they were getting a higher quality piano.
A piano purchase is usually 95% emotional. That is why in the recent piece
posted here on Cincinnati's Conservatory purchase you see them gushing over
the acquisition of the Steinways. It matters not that you can find better
pianos for less money, particularly the redesigned models of some of our
more esteemed list members.

Yes, I think you're right, Dean. The store I was working for used to carry
both Samick and DH Baldwin. We sold identical pianos with both names. The
DH Baldwins were more expensive. I don't know why the customers didn't
notice.

I'm pretty sure it is a Samick. I sold against them when I was selling Young
Chang product.

Hello all,
I service a C-172 DH Baldwin 5' 8" Grand today (with a PianoDisc system
installed). I looked all over to see where it was manufactured but I did not
find any kind of marking. I suspect it was built by Young Chang for
Baldwin??? Anyone know?
Thanks,
Ken Gerler
