I think the real trick to success is having lots of sizes of cauls hanging around and testing a couple keys before doing the whole shebang. I wasn't successful the first time, either.

I tried it on a Yamaha C3 in a teaching studio. I'd planned on rebushing these keys, so I figured if VS Profelt didn't work, I'd just go back to plan A 

I wet the bushings with the VS Profelt and used some brass cauls that I got from Pianotek (.129 I think for the front rail of a Yamaha is what they recommended). I left the cauls in for two days,( just because it took two days for me to get back to it). 

After putting the keys back in, I didn't find I got the results I had hoped for. I notice that Spurlock recommends cauls that are .125, so maybe I used cauls that were too large. They were better, but not as good as complete rebushing. 

BUT, the piano teacher said all of her students were noticing the action seems much more even. Maybe I couldn't tell because I'm not enough of a pianist to feel that.

Listy, 
I just received my bottle of VS profelt from pianotek and was wondring if anyone has had any success in sizing key bushings with this stuff. 
I serviced a piano yesterday that had recently rebushed keys and the cauls used were too big. No wear at all on the cloth and all were consistantly loose both front and center . 

I don't have the action in the shop yet and I will experiment tonight on some old keys ,but would also appreciate any feedback from your collective experience. 
It would be nice to not have to rebush .
