Yes it does.  Expansion of the wood with higher EMC will increase crown and
stiffness through the structure.  As you may have experienced, especially
with compression type soundboards, the sound of the piano can change quite a
bit seasonally.

Does humidity change also change internal tension and impedance within  
wood?  Seems to me, that tone changes a little with humidity too.   
Perhaps there are a number of complicating factors to consider in  
concert to reach the effect: pitch change that we are talking about.
