That's what I'm thinking!

The little base station has to be plugged in to an ethernet port somewhere within 200' of the sensor.  If that's not possible and there's wifi in the air, you could use an airport express or other wifi bridge (commonly sold as "gaming adapters") to add some flexibility to where the base station is located.
