Why not use Handel's temperament?

0.00	+2.42  -0.78  +4.46  -2.50  -0.08  +1.141  +0.08  +3.44  -2.58   
+1.72  -0.55

Major 3rds range from 9.3 to 19.6 cents.  Plenty of flavor.
