Hi Arlie,

A while ago I did a pinblock/back separation repair on a UST-7 (or whatever number) of that age. Have you looked around for structural defects? Little cracks in the bridges, etc?

What model is this?

Subject: [pianotech] Kawai aging

Just curious. My wife's studio 35-year old Kawai purchased new by us, which remains in one place and is played much for teaching and practicing, seems to be losing some of its great stability. Also, another Kawai tall upright that I service is losing its stability; an explanation for that one might be that it is a school piano and does get moved. But it's not as stable as it used to be, either. Any ideas on the life of one of these?

I toyed with the idea of putting a humidifier system on our Kawai, but I don't know if there is enough room inside. Has anyone done one of those?
