It's pretty unless it's your car which looks like a white Chia pet. If you are out in the woods on a hoarfrost morning, you can tell when the sun has hit and started to warm the branches by not only the tree snow but by the faint tinkling as the frost drops from the branches. I usually can't hear it over the chainsaw, however. ;-) In northern climes, you also learn different unofficial weather terms such as "frog"-freezing fog, "frain"-freezing rain, "frizzle"-freezing drizzle, "snain"-snow/rain mix, "slain"-sleet/rain and "*&^$!)($!!!!" -usually said whilst sliding toward ditch/curb/tree/car/fence/pole or just doing a 360. You also know what 18" of flurries is like. Merry Christmas! I think another component to this phenomena is the absence of the slightest breeze. Like a dandelion, it all blows away with the slightest puff of wind. In the West of Scotland, temperatures have not been rising above freezing (0C) all day. Last week, we had days of fog. Moisture condensed out of the freezing fog to produce fronst crystal formations the like of which my work colleagues and I (all in our 50s) agree we have never seen. Sorry this is off-topic, but its beautiful! Remember, this is frost, not snow. Best wishes, David Boyce. How does fog freeze? Can you see through it when it freezes? Or, do you drive into a cement fog wall? J -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
