Thanks JD, what you say of course makes perfect sense. To remove the frame and shim, would be a task well beyond my competence (sadly) and perhaps beyond that of anyone in Scotland at present. We shall consider options, my customer and I, once he has tried the wet towel experiment, and perhaps once the weather has returned to its usual muggy wetness.
