I missed the other discussion. :-( I should have known, adding a punching to the balance rail on the black to raise it, was too easy. Off course the other part of easy, was a FR punching,to compensate for the extra height. Your drawing explains, what I couldn't see. Thank you. It seems like in my old age, I am seeing less and less. :-) John Ross Windsor, Nova Scotia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Nossaman" <rnossaman at cox.net> To: <pianotech at ptg.org> Sent: Thursday, January 07, 2010 4:37 PM Subject: Re: [pianotech] Best way to change touch on Yamaha Grand John Ross wrote: > *Why not change balance, and front rail punchings to bring the balance > back.* > *Or is that too simplistic? * Too simplistic. We talked about this very recently. You need to maintain a relationship between sharp and natural key thickness. If the natural is too tall, it will either bottom out on the sharp's front punching, or the sharp will bury at full dip. Ron N
