[pianotech] Breaking Let-off Regulating Dowels on Pramberger JP 208 6'10" Platinum Edition

Tonight I was regulating a Pramberger JP208. When turning up the let-off
dowels to bring let-off closer to the strings, I found several of them
cracked. :( I was very careful, turned slowly, and tried a couple of
different tools, including the Yamaha short and long, as well as a
³traditional² grand capstan tool (Schaff, I think).

The dowels don¹t seem to be excessively high, outside the normal range. I
also noted upon inspection that somebody else had cracked a few before me.
Is this a known problem with Young Chang or Pramberger?

Suggestions? Other tools? Should I replace the cracked ones? They still
regulated and appeared ³stable,² even though split on one side. If I
should replace, then from what source (OEM, supply house, etc.)?

Thanks,
