[pianotech] Tuner's marks/cards

I like that idea too. Until the next guy takes it out and tosses it cause
it's got your name on # it and inserts his instead. How about self adhesive
stickers placed on the pin block? PTG sells these too. I use them all the
time. They look very similar to that card with places for dates etc.

Yes, I'd have to agree that this is a better system for me than writing on
pianos. I've never felt OK writing anything on the instrument, even where
"only I," will see it. This keeps the record secured reasonably well, and
definitely allows for enough records. Certainly no system is perfect, but I
like this idea.

one more thing: watch not to get 'gummed' pockets - they work like your
to-lick envelop and are sometimes just labeled 'adhesive'. The website you
found had also the other type of pockets - peel and stick is what you want.
I like the card system because it allows to be extended as needed - you just
place a second card in the pocket (maybe staple it to the first) and you can
use two sides of the card - that's lots of service a piano will receive
until it is filled. It's also easier to write on a card that you can place
conveniently onto a flat, vertical surface as opposed to trying to write on
a sticker that might be placed well, but uncomfortable to reach. Downside:
the card can fairly easy get lost if not placed outside of reach and it
might end up as one of the to-be-retrieved out of the piano items.
