The system has a record strip mounted behind the front rail key pins with those membrane fingers that gently touch the bottom of the keys. It has a electronics panel mounted in the bottom of the piano, and the midi cable comes off that out the back. The other solution I thought of might be to invest in one of the "virtual grands" that is software based such as Pianoteq or Ivory.
