Hello Floyd,
This type of action made a come back in the early
30's ( 27% unemployment ) as a cost cutting measure.
Several action Company's made them. including the
Thayer, Seaverns and Strauch Bros.
They are what they seem to be. Namely a
" Single Escapement" piano action for Grand pianos.
Regulate them as you would an upright. That is
the shank resting on the hammer rail.
M. Schultz, W. P. Haines, were two of the larger
factories that used this type.
Two such action models are in the PTGF Museum
now, in addition to dozens of other rare models.
Hopefully we will again have tours to the Museum
at the 2011 Convention to be Kansas City.
