Given the overall attention given the system by most of its’ owners I’d expect them to see a blinking light (no matter the color) and try to add more water. I vote to leave it alone. It would also work in cases where an outlet is controlled by a wall switch. And sometimes it may be important to temporarily unplug the DC for a short period and the light would remind the owner to plug it back in. I contacted Dampp-chaser a couple of years ago with a simple solution: a "system unplugged" warning light. It would just have to be a simple battery powered LED that would flash when the system is unplugged, reminding owners to plug it back in. I think it would be way more effective then the "Stop!" sticker on the plug.
