Ursula asked:
"Hi List,

I have a customer with a 40 year old Baldwin spinet. When she acquired it, the owner told her, it had never been tuned. This piano is very unstable on 2 tunings a year.

Does any one of you have experience with a climate control system in this kind of a case.
I put climate control systems into other pianos with good results, but am not quite sure, whether it is justified in such a case, whether the tuning would become much more stable. Is this throwing good money after a hopeless piano?

Thanks,"

Ursula,
Most Baldwins, I encounter, here in Piano Heaven, are as solid as a rock. However, where you are, there is a wider range of temperature/humidity swings. I heartily recommend the Damp-Chaser systems and have found them to be a way to make a bad situation into a tolerable one.<G> IMHO, that spinet should not need an every 6 months schedule, but should stay well in tune with a once a year + a dampchaser system.<G> Of all of the spinets made, I think the Acrosonic is almost the best design, ever, in the spinet realm.
