Hi, and I didn't get the persons name who asked, but yes I did remove that muffler /practice rail from the Sojin console. I wanted to check it out but didn't have the time quite honestly. The idea of turning and rolling isn't for cosmetics, but to hopefully liven the strings up. It seemed to help some on this piano another student and I worked on together for someone she knew. Is there a lot of wear on the pinblock, or is it it a matter of "any extra turning of the pin" causes unwanted friction, or is there a certain amount that is not in the "danger zone" of damaging the pin block? I recall hearing that there is a risk of breakage as well. Is that a risk that can be avoided in any way when this is done?
