I have used universal strings a number of times successfully. Are they an ideal repair? Sometimes not, but like many repair procedures we have at our disposal: they have their time and place. Most problems I have seen have been from mismatched bichords. I solved this problem by investing in 2 sets of universals, so that if I bichord is broken, both strings can be replaced with a matching pair. I'd like to see the charts as well.
