[pianotech] mini level

FWIW, while the leveling of the shank is not unimportant, if the tails are fairly uniform in length then having the shank perfectly level is not the cause of significant variation in the measured SW's, I find. Consistent placement of the bird's eye on the roller and flange position re a vertical line up from the roller are, however. Once establishing a height for the roller, which can be done this way or even with a careful eyeballing, that's where I focus my attention.

OK, here's what I wanted it for. The brass level fell off too easily, the black line level wasn't quite right. I bought this yellow line level, cut off the line holders off the ends and the little legs at the bottom are just right. The level itself is light enough that it doesn't fall as easily as the brass level. I'm glad to know about the other options, etc., too. I wanted to get this part of the job done today...

Thanks,

Hi Joe,

Looks to me like the concert level is almost an exact replica of the Fazioli level. Which is only available if you visit their factory in Italy. At first glance, Concert Level does resemble the one used by Fazioli. However, Concert Level features a few key refinements in engineering and execution.

I have no idea if any of these string levels is actually the way to go for Barbara's need. I use both Concert Level and your own version in my work.
