Hi Steve,

Don't risk your back by tuning a square by yourself. Hire someone to, or have the owner agree to, sit at the keyboard and strike the note you are tuning. Stand at the back of the piano to tune. The person striking the keys for you will get the hang of it quickly enough as you develop your system with him.
