Music inside of a person will find expression somehow, whether it's a hunk of metal, wires/strings stretched over a piece of wood, or something electronic made to sound like whatever it's made to sound like. I was a horn player in high school (tuba mostly, but played all the brass except french horn). And I remember being bored one afternoon on a construction site... don't remember where or why I was even there. I found a piece of pipe, probably either conduit or water pipe, and I do distinctly remember making surprisingly musical sounds at an attempt at playing the thing like you would a horn. Since there were no valves, it was more like playing a bugle, but it played! As a fulltime rver, I don't have the luxury of a grand piano in my living room. I'd love to have a nice old rebuilt Mason & Hamlin, oh, something around about a 6'3" minimum to about a 7' which would be awesome. But that's not gonna happen. So for now, it's a Roland Fantom X8 with a weighted keyboard and some fairly decent piano sounds. It's far from perfect, but stacks up pretty well against the present alternatives, considering the aprox 385 square feet of living space... ;-) Brian To: pianotech at ptg.org From: tnrwim at aol.com Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2011 23:14:24 -0500 Subject: [pianotech] Fwd: digital bell choir??? It's all electronic now. No more need for "real" instruments. But we still need "real" musicians, however.
