Thanks for the encourging remarks Joe! I have carefully chucked some in a drill and slowly turned them out without breaking more...(well one actually). 
Am I crazy to create a slightly larger hole.......very slightly?

  I would suggest a heat gun on each one to make it expand. let cool and try again. Take the top stack off first. Try not to cremate the key wood. (damhikt!) Or...you could get a brass hammer and bash each one firmly on the top. One whack, while the key bottom is supported on a firm platform, (off of the key frame.) Either/or...possible combination of both.<G> What ever you do, don't use any lubrications. It will make the wood "spongy"! another DAMHIKT!<G> Last resort: replace all with new ones, (after extracting many that have broken!) I wish you luck.
