Hello,

I am curious as to how many of my fellow techs are regularly weighing off
keyboards. Do you guys and gals like to weigh off to smooth predetermined
front weight ala Mr. Stanwood's method? Or simply get friction to be
reasonable (what is reasonable for you?), and weigh off to down-weight/
up-weight? How much up-weight do you like to see? Do you like to try and
shoot for a smooth progression of balance weights? What do you guys think
to be an ideal overall strike ratio of your "average" Steinway D, or B, or
SMLOA? Do you have a predetermined system for lead placement in the key? Do
you like to place leads closer to the front of the key or the balance rail?
How much lead is too much lead in the key (i.e. Stanwood's front weight
ceiling/ or just plain old number of leads), or in the hammer for that
matter? Do you like lead at the front of the key all the way from 1-88? Do
you find yourself often back leading in the extreme treble?

Just curious.

Love the list, btw. It's often educational and always entertaining.
