Note that if the period of one is close enough to those around it, they'll synchronize, like the ones on the right. If they're too far off, like the two on the left, they won't lock in. In unison strings, when you hear an obvious beat, they're too far off to lock in. When you hear the yow, they're trying to synchronize, but the attack is still objectionable. > Ron N
