Hello Ed. Check the strings between the hitch pins and the bridge. If one or more of these wires are "singing" it can be very loud. The last one I had was an almost new Steinway " L ". He was told to live with it, it would probably " go away ". O yea' fat chance. Have someone continue to strike the offending note and touch each wire in that area. If you find it weave name board felt thru the wires. Then present your bill. Regards Jack Wyatt In a message dated 9/8/2011 3: 57:35 P.M. The piano is a Mason & Hamlin, probably 15 years old, and there is a very strong after ring especially in the middle range of the piano, from C3-C5. The dampers are good, and have plenty of pressure on the strings. I have tried to damp off all the bass strings and the ring is unaffected. Even when I have damped off virtually the entire piano, it still rings. The piano is in good condition, the pedals are adjusted correctly. Everything seems to be working fine, but I can't make any headway on the ring. Any thoughts????? Ed Carwithen John Day, OR -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
