Yes, this has been discussed here and on the Linkedin group.  But the
comments in the December Journal don't point this out.  The suggestion is
implicit there that finished Teflon products as used by piano technicians
are harmful.

Naturally, the MANUFACTURING processes of very many things, can be very
hazardous.  Think, for example, of the hazards presnt in an iron foundry!
Yet we are willing to use cast iron plates and steel music wire in pianos.
Think of the hazards present in a sawmill, yet we use wood.

It would be factual to point out that the damage was caused by individual
components utilized in the manufacturing process.  Teflon itself, is inert
at temperatures below 500F.  I'd suggest putting space between yourself and
any piano that is over 150F in temperature regardless of possibility of the
use of teflon in servicing it. ;-)
