In regards to Chucks Promos. I, too am using them. But instead of the short one page promos, I've printed out the full explanations. I have each one in a nice clear covered folder. It gives the customer a lot of information and on the last page is the cost of doing the work described. In some cases, I've handed out two or three. For instance, we have a lot of 25 - 40 year old Yamaha's and Kawai's here, which need new hammer flanges cords. In addition to that, the hammers needs shaping, and probably new bridle straps.So I give them one on each repair. 

Each folder contains two copies of the price sheet. When I hand the information pamphlet to the customer, I put their name on one of the price sheet, and keep it for my records, so that when they call later to get the work done, I know what I quoted. (Or if they want the work done right away, I have a record of what I'm doing.) 

The promos are also on my web site. They have only been there for a couple of months, but I've gotten several calls for specific repairs. 

Your article on tuning is very comprehensive, and gives a lot of detailed technical information. It's a great read for other tuners. But is that the customer base you're after? While there might be a few customers who are interested in this kind of stuff, most customers will not read it because it's too long, and its got too much detailed technical information. Your other information on what's involved with tuning, repairs, etc, is much more customer friendly. For a more basic explanation of why a piano goes out of tune, read what I've got on my web site.

I've managed to incorporate some of Chuck's Promos on my website, along with an article I wrote myself this evening, about tuning.  

I'm pleased with the way it looks. You can click to see the PDFs full screen.  I want my site to be content rich, and to keep people on there!  

My idea is to carry some of the "Heads Up" single sheet promos with me, to give one where appropriate to the client, and to explain that they can find more information on my website (or if they don't have internet, I can send them a copy of the full promo by post). In that way, a "reinforcing" further interaction with the client is generated, either via my website or by post.

What do you think of my little article on Tuning?
