OK Mark I understand now. He’s only heating up a part of the string ...... the part from the T-pin to the capo bar or aggraffes or pressure bar ....... just before the speaking length. Metal conducts heat well. A maintained level of heat will eventually heat up the entire piano. Most strings go flat when they go out of tune ........ how do you make a string go sharp?? Freon??
