David, Try to find a solution that does not require raising or lowering the sostenuto blade. The hangers screw into the belly rail and are adjustable only by bending (or plugging and redrilling) but they are of a cast bronze material which breaks as often as it bends. If it's only one or two, I'd bet on Laura's suggestion. Bend the damper wire to bring those tabs out a little closer to the blade.
