Although in this case the soundboard obviously is not made of steel, I did work on a piano with a steel soundboard. It was made in Sweden, and weighed a ton. After I fixed it, it sounded very similar to a steel drum band from the Caribbean. At one time I had the patent information on this piano. It was one of only two made.
