You mean that you went to all the trouble of cutting end-grain felt etc. to 
 re- cover all the dampers and re-stringing?  Was the piano worth it  
commercially?  The top of the wire usually has a long thread which  sometimes 
needs lubricating in order to screw it up or down into the damper  lever.
