I find that many console/studio pianos have too high an angle from the pin to the upper termination, and the wire climbs on the coil. If the pin is tapped in lower, where you would think it should be, this is what happens. Even though the pins appear too high on the P-22, if you pound them in farther the wires will likely climb the coils. The friction will also increase. More likely to break the strings when you tune. I'd bet the factory found this out the hard way.
