I sent the wrong strings for the 1098 back to Mapes and also the original strings. I had taped the two boxes together, but because the boxes were not exactly the same size, UPS made me send the two boxes separately. This morning I got a call from Mapes that both boxes arrived, but the box with the new strings was empty. The box had been tapes shut, but no strings. I am presuming someone at UPS knew the contents of the box and helped themselves to a set of new bass strings. So if any of you are offered a set if new bass strings, don't buy them, because they are "hot" A more probable reason they were stolen, however, is for the copper. Wim Sent from my iPhone
