Wim,
Its the climate i believed. Here in tropical Singapore(South East Asia),we
had lots of these hammer splits and all brands(even Yammys without staples
at one time) and some brands with straight staples. We called it 'open
flower(flower blooming) ' or 'PacMan'
hammers!
